They won't get away with it!
THEY WON'T GET AWAY WITH IT.
Don’t they know anything,
all these predators?
Don’t they know
they can’t get away with this—
Treating people like a fast-food meal
over which they’re too busy to pray?
(Psalm. 14:4, MSG bible).
Wicked people or workers of iniquity, the predators, think they are secure and safe taking pleasure in their folly like any man in his business. They think they are wise and not willing to see the danger they are in. They are twisted and corrupt. A predator is someone who ruthlessly exploits others. They can be sexual predators and financial predators who take advantage of others' vulnerability. They eat God's people up like a fast-food meal with as much greediness as they eat bread. They have an enmity against God's people and eagerly desire their ruin because they really hate God. In other words it is meat and drink to the persecutors of God's people to be doing mischief to them. It is equal to and as necessary as food to them. They eat you up like a meal! The devil himself also seeks to devour you (see 1 Peter 5:8).
The wicked will use you. In this Psalm they eat God's people daily and securely without checking their consciences when they do it. They have no remorse just like Joseph's jealous brothers who threw him into a pit and sat down to eat bread, (see Genesis 37:24-25). They call not upon the Lord. They care not for God's people. They show contempt for the poor and those who find their refuge in God. If they had any knowledge of God at all and did rightly understand themselves then they would not be so abusive and barbarous to the people of God. Likewise, if the rulers of this world had understood who he was, the Son of God, 'they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.' (1 Corinthians 2:8, NLT).
Instead, they continue headlong in their folly and danger. The reason why people run into all kinds of wickedness is because they do not call upon God for his grace. These predators cannot make you safe and happy. What good can be expected from those who live without prayer? So we must pray about everything. The safest and happiest place to be is in prayer to God, walking in the fear and wisdom of God because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The book of Proverbs says:
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7. NLT).
I conclude, these evil-doers do not fear God and are very wicked indeed and have a great deal to answer for. They won't get away with it!
