Broken down in lockdown but love mends.
"Love never stops loving." (1 Corinthians 14:8, TPT).
So during this last week there has been such a rise in violence and hatred after the unlawful and unjust killing of the black man George Floyd, in America by a white police officer. It has sparked worldwide outrage and disgust. But some radical right wing groups are using it as an excuse to cause riots and unrest to oust President Trump. It is political. Much like when Martin Luther King was assassinated. Such hatred and racism pursued a none violent Martin Luther King, who would be a voice for God for the civil rights of black people today. There have been riots and looting and just anarchy both in USA and also in London, UK at the US Embassy. It is almost like a rewind back to 1968. Anger begets anger. Love begets love. The powers of hell and darkness seem to be hotting up in the earth. There is something going on! COVID19, a biochemical viral weapon, the threat of Communism take over by China and racist anarchy in the US. The devil is afraid so he is throwing everything he has got at God's people. But you can't put the fire out with fire and more anger and fury. Violence is not the answer. Love is! God is love. So, you have to put this fire of hatred out with love. Pour on the living water of the passionate love of Jesus.
Let's do another rewind back to Jesus' day when they crucified our Lord. See the parallels. Our Messiah and Saviour, sent by God to die for us. Although Jesus is love, he was wrapped in chains of hatred as he was arrested, after Judas betrayed him with a kiss. They punched him, beat him and hated him without reason. The whole hosts of hell had been unleashed on Jesus. The devil launched his worst attack, his army of demons assaulted Jesus. Thinking they had killed Jesus. Because he did die. But not so, he gave his life for love! God's only begotten, obedient son. Jesus. Satan wanted to kill love! But love does not die! Hell is shaken! Love gets up! Jesus is resurrected! It was the hour of darkness reigning as he hung there on the cross. Total loneliness. Abandonment. Separated from God his Father. Three hours Jesus hung on the cross. Completely alone except for heavenly Father as he cried out in anguish, in a loud voice, 'My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?' (Mark 14:34). It seemed like God had turned away but for a moment. The whole sin of mankind was upon Jesus. He took our punishment. A holy moment! The curse of sin was upon him. He took my sin. He died in my place. So, even God had to forsake him while evil reigned and then Jesus died. The devil thought he had won. But no, victory was won. God the Holy Spirit, raised Jesus from the dead. The devil is freaking out. No! What a glorious breathtaking moment that must have been in heaven. Angels rejoice! It is like God tricked the devil with the cross which became the gateway to heaven. Jesus' triumph over his enemies, over the devil, over sin was wrought with love. This is the true vengeance of the Lord. Love conquers all. You overcome evil with good and you respond with the opposite spirit. Light dispels darkness. Love drives hate out the door! Therefore, love never died, it never stops loving. It resurrects! This is our hope. Jesus is his name.
